If you are wondering what that means, you have obviously not heard yet. Notre Dame has chosen to go use a 3 year opt out clause that was put into their previous contract with The University of Michigan that was supposed to run through 2017. This means 2014 will now be the final year of that contract.

While The Notre Dame vs Michigan rivalry has been a great one, that started all the way back in 1877, the 2 teams have actually only met 39 times in all. Interestingly, it was actually the Michigan players who first taught Notre Dame how to play football back in their very first meeting. Since then Michigan has won the rivalry with a record of 23-16 -1. Part of what has made this rivalry so special is the way these teams are looked at on a national perspective. Both are viewed as 2…
